Limitless Integration Setup Guide
The Limitless MCP integration enables Benny Chat to access your personal lifelog data from Limitless AI devices, primarily the Pendant. This integration allows you to reference conversations, meetings, and moments captured by your Limitless device during chats.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Completed the Smithery Setup Guide
- A Limitless account with an active subscription
- A Limitless device (currently supports Pendant)
- The Limitless app installed on your phone
About Limitless
Limitless AI creates wearable devices that capture and transcribe your conversations throughout the day, creating a searchable personal lifelog. The Pendant device records audio when activated and processes it into structured summaries and transcripts.
Step 1: Get Your Limitless API Key
You can get your API key from either the website or mobile app:
Option A: From the Website (Recommended)
- Go to Limitless.ai and sign in
- Navigate to Account → Developers
- In the API Settings section, click Create Key
- Name your key (e.g., "Benny Chat Integration")
- Copy the API key - keep it secure and never share it publicly
Option B: From the Mobile App
- Open the Limitless mobile app
- Navigate to Settings
- Look for "Developer" or "API" section
- Generate an API key for Benny Chat
- Copy the API key
Note: API access may require a Limitless Pro subscription.
Step 2: Configure in Smithery
- Log into Smithery
- Go to your profile
- Find the Limitless MCP
- Click "Add to Profile"
- Configure the API key in the settings
- Save the configuration
Step 3: Enable in Benny Chat
- Open Benny Chat and go to Settings
- Scroll to "MCP Tool Settings"
- Find "Limitless" in the list of integrations
- Toggle the switch to enable Limitless
- Click "Test Connection"
- You should see a success message with available tools
Available Tools
The Limitless integration provides three main tools:
1. Get Lifelogs
- Retrieve multiple lifelog entries
- Filter by date and time ranges
- Maximum 10 entries per request
- Returns summaries of your recorded moments
2. Get Lifelog Entry
- Fetch detailed information about a specific entry
- Access full transcripts and metadata
- Useful for diving deep into a particular conversation
3. Search Lifelogs
- Full-text search across all your lifelogs
- Find specific topics, people, or conversations
- Search by keywords or phrases

Daily Assistant Integration
When Limitless is enabled, Benny Chat's Daily Assistant can:
- Summarize important conversations from your day
- Extract action items from meetings
- Identify follow-up tasks from discussions
- Track commitments you've made to others
- Provide context for upcoming meetings based on past conversations
Privacy and Security
Data Access
- Benny Chat only accesses lifelogs when you explicitly request them
- No automatic background syncing occurs
- Each request is made in real-time
What's Captured
- Only conversations recorded by your Limitless device
- You control when the Pendant is recording
- Private mode conversations are not accessible
Data Retention
- Lifelog content appears only in conversation context
- No permanent storage beyond chat history
- Daily summaries may reference lifelog content

- Regular Syncing: Ensure your Pendant syncs regularly with the app
- Clear Requests: Be specific about time ranges when searching

Current Limitations
As the Limitless API is in beta:

Connection Test Failed
- Verify API Key: Check the key in Smithery configuration

No Lifelogs Found
- Check if your device has been recording
- Ensure lifelogs have synced to the cloud

Search Not Working

- Ensure the content exists in your lifelogs
- Try searching by date first, then keywords
